“In Life She Gave Love — In Death She Gave Life.” On June 4th, 2024, our world was turned upside down. We lost Leighia — my wife, my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the amazing mother to our two beautiful children, Aiden and Rebel. Anyone who knew Leighia knows that helping others wasn’t just something she did — it was who she was. She had a heart for people and a spirit that always put others before herself. When she passed, that same spirit carried on through her final, selfless act — becoming an organ donor. Through her courageous decision, she gave the ultimate gift: the gift of life. Because of her, others were given a second chance to live, to love, and to share more time with their families. Over this past year, our family has learned dirt-hand about LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Association), and through that experience, we’ve seen just how far Leighia’s love continues to reach. We’ve met incredible people whose lives have been touched by organ donation, and we’ve witnessed how much hope and healing it brings — even through heartbreak. That’s why Team Leighia was created. We want to raise awareness and support for LOPA’s mission — to honor Leighia’s legacy of compassion and generosity, and to help others understand the life-changing power of organ donation. For us, this isn’t just about fundraising. It’s about carrying forward Leighia’s heart — her kindness, her courage, and her belief in helping others, no matter what.
